Getting a Florida Marriage License - Simple!

Getting a marriage license is very easy. If you are NOT A FLORIDA RESIDENT, you can get your marriage license the same day you arrive in Florida. The Courthouses are open Monday through Friday, 8:00 am - 5:00 pm.  The cost is $93.50 to $98.00.

ANSWERS TO THE MOST ASKED QUESTIONS...

"Do we have to go to the Courthouse?"  If you're getting the license on your own, you will need to visit one of the local Courthouses.  (Or we can go for you- see our marriage license service info below).

"Which Courthouse should I go to?"  We will give you directions to the nearest one based on where you are staying.

"What are the physical addresses of the nearest Courthouses?"  The Orange County Courthouse is located at 425 N. Orange Avenue, Orlando, FL.  The Osceola County Courthouse is located at 2 Courthouse Square, Kissimmee, FL.

"We are coming to Florida from overseas.  What paperwork do we need to take to the Courthouse?"  Just your passports!  You may read on other sites that you need birth certificates, decree absolutes, etc. but it is actually just your passports that are needed.

"Are we required to take a premarital course?"  No, no, no.  Further, if you are not a Florida resident, you are not eligible for the discount associated with the course.

"Is there a waiting period?"  Only if you live in Florida.  If you ARE a Florida resident, you will have a 3-day waiting period.  Otherwise, you can get it right on the spot.

"What is the residency requirement?"  There is absolutely no residency requirement.  If either the Bride or Groom is a Florida resident, you will have a 3-day waiting period, unless you take the premarital course.  If neither is a Florida resident, you can get your license the very day you arrive (Monday-Friday) and be married that same day!

"One or both of us has been married before. Do I need to bring my divorce paperwork?"  No.  When you're filling in the form at the Courthouse, it will ask if you have been previously married.  You will need to fill in the date your last marriage ended, but you won't need to show proof.

Here are 2 ways to cut down on the time it takes to get the marriage license:

#1 - Download
this form for Orange County or
this form for Osceola County (Kissimmee); complete it; take it with you to the Courthouse.  If you are not a US resident, then, in Section A, mark through the words "Social Security Number" and "or Alien Registration Number," and write in "Passport Number."  STILL, BE SURE AND TAKE YOUR PASSPORTS WITH YOU!
#2 - Download
this brochure, the Florida Family Law Handbook.  Sit down with your fiancé and read it.  Then on the form, Section C, check that you "Together Have" read the handbook.

(Footnote) If you are not a Florida resident, in Section C, you will need to check that you "have not" completed a premarital preparation course.  If you are a Florida resident and have completed a premarital preparation course, you will need to provide proof.  The course is not a requirement.

MARRIAGE LICENSE SERVICE - $293.50 (total includes our fee of $200 + court fee of $93.50)

We will send you a link for a secure online form to fill out in order for us to collect your information.  Once we receive the form, we will process the information with the court and have your license paperwork drawn up.  If you are a US resident, we can send the paperwork to you at home to be notarized.  If you are a non-US resident, we can set up a time for you to come in & meet with us (with your passports!) upon your arrival to Orlando.

For non-US Residents:  We are happy to send the paperwork to you at home to be notarized if you prefer- if you have access to a licensed solicitor who can sign the documents, you are welcome to have the papers signed at home instead of meeting with us ahead of the wedding day.  We have heard that it is very expensive to have documents notarized overseas, so we offer the same service here as part of the license process in order for you to avoid added costs.
